HISTORY
The beginning of UCF is directly linked with the work of Christian Lecturers
who were from Britain in the late 1950s and early 1960s. These lectures invited
their students home for weekly Bible reading, which was followed by questions,
discussions, prayer, tea and biscuits. Some of these students got converted and
banded together on their own initiative and formed the University Christian
Fellowship (UCF). Students from the Secondary Schools who entered the
university with Scripture Union background came to support this vision started
by the British.

AIMS
The aims of the Fellowship are as follows:
-To witness about the Lord Jesus Christ as Saviour
and to lead students to a personal faith in Him.
-To deepen the spiritual life of Christian
students by the devotional study of the Bible,
prayer and by fellowship
-To encourage responsible Church membership
- To stimulate interest and involvement in
evangelistic and missionary work and prayers on
its behalf.

WHAT IS GHAFES
GHAFES is an acronym for Ghana Fellowship of Evangelical Students, a
national movement of inter and non-denominational Christian Fellowship
in the Universities and other Tertiary Institutions in Ghana.
GHAFES aims at disciplining Christian students, training and equipping
them to be effective witness for Jesus Christ and is also committed to the
expansion of Christ's kingdom through missionary outreach and active
involvement in Church and state.

MEMBERSHIP
The Fellowship membership is open to all students in the University of
Ghana, who expressly agree to do so. For this reason, not all Christians
students of the University are members of the Fellowship but ONLY those
who so consent.
The UCF achieves its aims through the various sub-groups and hall
fellowships.

HALL FELLOWSHIPS

The Hall Fellowships are decentralized branches of the Fellowship in all
the halls of residence.
They seek and promote the spiritual, material and social welfare of every
member in line with the aims of the fellowship by registering and keeping
a record of all members of the Hall Branch and liaising with cell leaders in
promoting the effectiveness of all cell groups in the Hall.
